I have children with my ex partner, how will child custody work?

There are two ways: agreement or going to court.

Agreement:

An agreement may involve a parenting plan or mediation. The parenting plan is a straightforward approach to document what you have decided on how to raise your child/children. Mediation is often used to reach a mutual agreement with a mediator involved. This helps avoid the court.

Going to court:

If you can’t agree, you can apply for a Child Arrangements Order. This is a legally binding court order that includes the living arrangements. You would need to consider questions like who has the most time to care for the children, how far is school for the children.

How long does it take to get divorced?

Under the no-fault divorce law, the divorce process takes around 7 months. There is a 26-week waiting period for the Conditional and Final Orders.
